This activity introduces a work from the collection: look at it, learn its history and find out what it has to say.

Strange animals!
The museum's paintings and sculptures feature all sorts of wild, domestic and fantastic animals. The children can set out in search of them in the exhibition rooms and then dream up a weird animal they then create in the workshop.

Shapes of things
The abstract works are full of geometrical shapes you can arrange ad infinitum. Children can discover these works and make their own at the same time.

Ghosts, centaurs and dragons!
Ghost, centaurs and dragons sneak out of the pictures at night and wreak havoc in the museum. The children are given an important task: track the monsters down and draw a trap to capture them.

Behind the mask
The kids check out the collection's top personalities! Their portraits – psychological, ceremonial or realistic – reveal all sorts of things about them and their times. And there's a workshop for each child to make a mask and slip into the identity of one of them.

Whimsical and fantastic animals
The Beaux-Arts and Dobrée museum collections are seething with dragons, unicorns, centaurs, jellyfish, strange monkeys, beetles, ostriches and cats. The children set out in search of them, uncovering their amazing stories in the two museums, then create an imaginary animal in the workshop.

No better way of discovering the inventive genius of Max Ernst than taking a close look at The Forest and Natural History then trying out frottage for yourself.

A team of angels, a team of devils and a game of snakes and ladders with the museum as the board. From question to question and challenge to challenge, the children explore the collection, winning points along the way. Which team will come out on top?

Art show of the century
In the roles of a museum director and an exhibition curator, the players have to run their collections in spite of thieves stealing paintings, shortage of funds, etc. A combination of Monopoly and Trivial Pursuits, a game you win by putting on more exhibitions than everyone else – virtually, of course. The more right answers you come up with, the more additions to your collection for the art show of the century!
